Halton Police arrest an Oakville taxi driver after finding him unconscious at the wheel.

On January 7, 2015, shortly after 8:00pm, Halton officers responded to a call regarding a taxi colliding with another vehicle in the parking lot at 1007 Upper Middle Road in the Town of Oakville whereby the driver appeared to be unconscious.

When police arrived, the vehicle was still in drive with the rear tires blown out causing sparks as they continued to spin. Officers broke the front passenger window of the vehicle to unlock the door and get the drivers attention. The driver was awoken and assisted out of his vehicle.

The driver was transported to hospital for precautionary measures, release medically and held for a bail hearing.

Mohammed TARIQ, 56yrs, from Oakville has been charged with:

  • Driving while ability impaired
  • Driving with more than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood
