Do you have overnight guests and not enough parking in your driveway? Renovating your home and need the driveway to park the dumpster? Or are you asphalting your driveway and need to park on the street? Now requesting temporary on-street parking is a click away. The Town of Oakville is making your parking experience more convenient and efficient with the new online temporary on-street parking permit request form at oakville.ca.
Launched this week, the new online temporary on-street parking permit form allows you to park your vehicle on the street overnight or beyond the regulated three-hour maximum parking time. It’s easy. Just visit oakville.ca and submit the online form. Your temporary on-street permit can then be printed and displayed on your dash. You can request up to 15 days of on-street parking per vehicle per year.
In addition to the new online process, there are a number of other parking initiatives recently introduced to help improve parking across the town such as:
- North of Dundas Street on-street parking permits — allows residents in the area to apply for an overnight on-street parking permit at a cost of $50 per month
- Quick Stop parking spaces in downtown Oakville and Kerr Village — allows you to park for a maximum of 20 minutes at specific meters for just $.25
- Pay and display machines in downtown — offers the convenience of coin or credit card payments
- Pay by plate machines in downtown and Kerr Village parking lots — offers coin or credit card payments and no need to display your ticket; now with new easy to follow instructions.
The town is also developing a downtown Oakville parking strategy as part of the Downtown Plan to see how to accommodate current and future parking demand to service the downtown commercial district and new cultural hub facilities coming to the downtown area.
The town’s website has all the detailed maps and information on parking lots and garages, on-street parking restrictions, paying your parking ticket, veterans and accessible parking permits, and parking during construction projects. Visit oakville.ca and search for parking. If you see an illegally parked vehicle contact Oakville Parking Operations at 905-338-4394. This number is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a voicemail service available after hours.
