Oakville businesses will celebrate their success at the 19th Annual Oakville Awards for Business Excellence (OABE) Gala coming up on March 27, 2014 at the Oakville Conference Centre.

Presented by the Oakville Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Rotary Club of Oakville West, this gala event celebrates the significant contribution local businesses make to the outstanding quality of life enjoyed in Oakville. The proceeds from the awards support Rotary youth programs assisting future business leaders.

"The finalists have all demonstrated exceptional business acumen and community spirit," said Orla Johnston, chair of the Oakville Chamber.

"Congratulations to all the nominees and many thanks to all the OABE partners, supporters and attendees," noted Susan Sheppard, president of the Rotary Club of Oakville West. "Together, we can make a difference."

There are awards in multiple categories to capture large, medium, and small businesses, entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, professional services and community builders. These awards are a joint initiative between the Oakville Chamber and the Rotary Club of Oakville West. Proceeds from the event support Rotary youth initiatives in our community.

This year's Business Icon award will be presented to Tim Hortons in recognition for their contribution to our community and to honour their 50th anniversary coming up on May 17, 2014. Tim Hortons launched with one location in Hamilton, Ont. in 1964. With its corporate head office in Oakville, Tim Hortons has grown to some 3,500 outlets in Canada, 800 locations in the U.S., and several dozen in the Middle East.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are available at oakvillechamber.com or by calling the chamber at 905.845.6613.

The Oakville Awards for Business Excellence (OABE) is a program of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Oakville West (RCOW) to build awareness of business excellence within our community and at the same time raise funds through partnerships, ticket sales and on-site raffle to support RCOW youth initiatives in Oakville.
