The future seven-ward boundary system for Oakville (approved by Council in November 2016) will be used to conduct the election and will officially be in place on December 1, 2018. Changing the town’s ward system from six to seven means the composition of Town Council will increase from 13 members (12 councillors, plus Mayor) to 15 (14 councillors, plus Mayor). Third party advertising rules:

The Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended, now includes rules for third party advertising during elections.
