Regarding the 8 year old child assaulted at the Cross Avenue No Frills, on August 9, 2017 investigators, with the assistance of the public identified the suspect responsible.

A 77 year old female resident of Oakville has been identified as person responsible for the assault and was cautioned for the incident due to her diminished capabilities.  There were no injuries to the victim as a result of this incident.

The Halton Regional Police would like to thank residents and media partners for their assistance in identifying the person responsible.

The Halton Regional Police Service is seeking the public's assistance to identify a woman who allegedly assaulted the 8 year-old child.

An 8 year old child assaulted in an Oakville grocery store is the latest investigation by the Halton Regional Police.

On Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11:10 a.m., a mother was shopping with four children at the No Frills grocery store located at 125 Cross Avenue in Oakville, when an unknown woman slapped (the mother's) 8 year-old daughter. The mother confronted the unknown woman who promptly fled the store. The Cross Avenue No Frills is located just north of the Oakville GO Station, across from the Home Depot.

The unknown woman is described as approximately 70 years old, white, with brown, shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a white t-shirt and black pants.
