$851K Oakville Drug Bust: Marihuana & Steriods

The Halton Regional Police Service Integrated Drug, Gun & Gang Unit executed Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants at two locations on Thursday August 8th, 2013, 4289 Regional Road 25 in the Town of Oakville and 5270 First Line in the Town of Milton.

On August 8th 2013, the Integrated Drug, Gun and Gang Unit, the Tactical Rescue Unit, Canine Unit and the 2 District Strategic Support Team executed search warrants at both locations. As a result police dismantled a large scale sophisticated indoor cannabis marihuana grow operation. Seized were approximately 800 cannabis marihuana plants in various stages of growth along with 250 grams of dried cannabis marihuana.

The Tactical Unit is brought in when there is a suspicion of Fire Arms,  in this particular case no Fire Arms were found.

In addition, seized approximately 5000 tablets of various types of anabolic steroids, 2 bottles of liquid testosterone (total of 500 mg), 30 grams of dried cannabis marihuana, approximately $5000 cash, a cell phone and approximately 100 oxycodone tablets.

Approximate Street Value of Drugs seized is $851,500

Rui Manuel DaSilva, 44 years of age, 4289 Regional Road 25 in the Town of Oakville charged with production of Cannabis Marihuana, possession of Cannabis Marihuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of Anabolic Steroids for the purpose of trafficking , and possession of Oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking.  Rui Manuel DaSilva was charged in 2002 for similar offences, and that drug bust included then Tiger Cats offensive lineMan Michael Mihelic. The accused will appear in Milton Provincial Court Criminal Division, August 9th, 2013 for a bail hearing.
