A Zero Percent Property Tax Increase: the Goal for Halton in 2014

An overview of Halton Region’s proposed 2014 Budget and Business Plan was presented to Council on November 13.  Chair Carr expressed support and encouragement that the 2014 budget could once again achieve a zero per cent increase for Regional tax supported programs and services.  On average, the Region has had a zero per cent increase on the Region’s portion of the residential property tax for the last eight years.

“This will be the eighth consecutive year we have had an average zero per cent increase,” said Regional Chair Gary Carr.  “It is a remarkable achievement to be able to maintain service levels without increasing taxes and while maintaining our triple A credit rating.”

The 2014 Regional budget will be going to Regional Council for final approval onDecember 11th. More detailed information about the proposed 2014 budget will be available at www.halton.ca/budget.  Comments about the proposed 2014 Budget and Business Plan can be emailed to [email protected].

“A triple A credit rating combined with our low taxes makes Halton a great place to do business and results in jobs for our community from companies such as Lowes, Target, Siemens, Toronto Premium Outlets and Gypsum Technologies Inc.”
