Armed Robbery of Piggy Mart in Bronte

On Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 7:35 pm, the Halton Regional Police Service responded to call regarding an armed robbery at the Piggy Mart convenience store, located at 2290 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville.

The store is in Bronte. The closest cross streets are East Street and Lakeshore Road West.

Mr. Ronald MARWICK (30 years) of Oakville was arrested by officers as he attempted to flee the store.

Mr. Ronald MARWICK was in possession of a loaded homemade firearm, designed to fire a 12 gauge shotgun shell, a conducted energy weapon, disguised as a flashlight, and 12 more shotgun shells.

While committing the robbery, Mr. Ronald MARWICK also smashed the convenience store security cameras.

Further investigation determined that Mr. MARWICK had committed a theft from a parked motor vehicle nearby, prior to committing the robbery. During this theft, Mr. MARWICK smashed the front passenger window of the vehicle and stole miscellaneous documents.

Mr. Ronald MARWICK was transported to the Oakville police station where he was held pending a bail hearing.

Mr. Ronald MARWICK is facing the following charges:

  1. Robbery using a firearm
  2. Possession of a prohibited firearm
  3. Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  4. Possession of prohibited or restricted ammunition
  5. Mischief Under $5,000 (2x counts)

All property related to these offences was recovered.
