Attempted traffic stop leads to Several Charges

Halton Regional Police officers attempted to execute a traffic stop shortly after 3:20 am on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 as the snow gently fell over Oakville. The attempted traffic stop took place at Lakeshore Road West and Wilson Drive, close to the Tim Hortons.

The suspect had violated the Highway Traffic Act. He did not stop, but fled the scene at high speed. The police did not pursue the suspect.

Soon after the offence, the police located the abandoned vehicle. The suspect drove a stolen car. It was from Toronto.

The police located the suspect soon after and arrested him. They charged Peter Richard VERBA with several offences.

Peter Richard VERBA is 26 years old from Etobicoke.

The police held the accused, Richard VERBA, for a bail hearing. They remind the public that all persons charged are presumed innocent, and only the courts determine guilt or innocence.
