The Halton District School Board is proud to recognize World Teachers' Day on Monday, October 5, 2015, as proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

World Teachers’ Day is devoted to appreciating, assessing, and improving the educators of the world, as well as taking time to look at and address issues pertaining to teachers. World Teachers' Day also celebrates the role teachers play in providing quality education at all levels, which enables children and adults to learn to take part in and contribute to their local community and global society.

“Nelson Mandela said education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world. In the Halton District School Board, we fully embrace this view and everyday in every classroom, our teachers demonstrate the fulfillment of this idea,” says Stuart Miller, Director of Education for the Halton District School Board. “Thank you so much to all our educators for contributing and, indeed, leading our students in their educational experiences. Your absolute commitment to your students and our system is truly embodying the view spread by Nelson Mandela. Have a great World Teachers' Day.”
