Update: Burnhamthorpe Collision Closes Road

​The Burnhamthorpe collision from Tuesday, August 15 2017, has claimed the life of the 57-year-old Mississauga man. At the request of the family, Halton Regional Police will not be releasing the name of the deceased at this time.

The circumstances surrounding the collision continue to be investigated, and at this point no charges have been laid.

On Tuesday, August 15, 2017 Halton Regional Police Service responded to a two vehicle collision on Burnhamthorpe Road East between Ninth Line and Trafalgar Road in the Town of Oakville. The Burnhamthorpe collision occurred just after 7:30 am when an eastbound van crossed over the centre line and struck another van travelling in the westbound direction.

The driver of the westbound van, a 57-year-old Mississauga man, was airlifted to a Toronto trauma hospital where he is currently in critical condition.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 30-year-old Oakville man, received minor injuries, and was treated at the scene.

Due to the nature of the injuries sustained, all westbound and eastbound traffic on Burhamthorpe Road, between Ninth Line and Trafalgar Road was closed for 4 hours, as the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended and collected the scene evidence.
