The Region of Halton’s Health and Social Service’s Committee met today, electing Councillor Alan Johnston as Vice-Chair of the committee for the remainder of this term of Council.
“I am honoured that my committee colleagues chose me to play a leadership role in setting the direction for something as important as the region’s health and social services,” Councillor Johnston said. “I look forward to continuing the committee’s good work towards enhancing the health and well-being of Halton residents.”
The Health and Social Services Committee is responsible for assisting Halton’s low income residents and legislating on the issues of affordable housing, child and youth development, seniors, public health, and the promotion of healthy living.
The Committee meets Tuesdays at 9:30am on a three week cycle. The next meeting is scheduled forFebruary 18, 2014.
