An unknown thief used his car to steal an ATM from the lobby of Oakville's Film.Ca Cinemas after hours, at approximately 2:36 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022. The theft also caused thousands of dollars in property damage.

This is the second act of major vandalism the theatre has seen this year, following multiple movie screens being slashed in a targeted attack in February. It is unknown at this time if there is a connection between the two incidents.

The theatre also says this isn't the first time their ATM has been stolen; there was a previous incident in 2019. In response to this week's events, the theatre says they "will no longer have an ATM on premises. We will not risk another hit. Sorry to our guests for the inconvenience."

A security video, courtesy of the theatre, is being circulated on social media in hopes of additional information being found to help identify and catch the thief. The video is available below:

In the 24 hours since the robbery, police have been provided with the vehicle's license plate number and 4K security footage.

The total cost of the damages to the theatre itself, including doors, broken glass and flooring, is still unknown. The theatre has publicly said that they intend to pay for the damages themselves to avoid what would be a substantial increase to their insurance costs.

Anyone with information about the robbery or recognizes any further details from the security video are asked to contact Halton Crime Stoppers at 905-825-4777 or online at haltoncrimestoppers.ca.
