Conservation Halton is advising that Oakville has received 30 to 40mm of precipitation from Monday evening to the present time. The recent rainfall has increased flows and levels in our area and many creeks within our watersheds are flowing at near bankfull conditions. For complete understanding of your area of Oakville, the town prepared a study of Oakville Flood Zones in 2008.

The weather office is forecasting additional precipitation of 35 to 50mm over Wednesday and Thursday, continuing into Friday. With this proposed amount of rainfall, it is anticipated streams and rivers in the Oakville watershed will rise and may spill over their banks. Flooding is anticipated in the low lying areas along watercourses based on the forecasted rainfall amounts.
Conservation Halton is asking all residents and children to stay away from all watercourses and structures such as bridges, culverts and dams. Elevated water levels, fast flowing water, and slippery conditions along stream banks continue to make these locations extremely dangerous. Please alert children in your care of these imminent dangers.
Conservation Halton will continue to monitor stream and weather conditions and will issue further messages as necessary.
