Sheridan has been named as the 13th top employer in Canada according to a new ranking released by Forbes magazine last week. Sheridan was the only college on the list, coming behind the University of Guelph (ranked 6th), and Laval University (ranked 10th), but ahead of Queens' University (ranked 17th, as well as several other universities on the list.

"It's very gratifying to achieve this national recognition," said Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, Sheridan President and Vice Chancellor. "We have embedded becoming an employer of choice as part of our overall mission and goals, and this ranking affirms that we are on the right path."

The ranking was based on an independent, anonymous survey of 8,000 Canadian workers conducted by Forbes in partnership with an online statistics provider. Respondents were asked to determine, on a scale of zero to ten, how likely they were to recommend their employer to someone else. They were also asked for their view of other employers in their industry.

Forbes cited the opportunity to continue one's training and education as a key advantage to postsecondary employment. "We are committed to providing our employees with opportunities to continually enhance their skills and knowledge," said Zabudsky. "It's key to our ability to offer an exceptional teaching and learning environment to our students."

The Forbes ranking includes 250 employers across 25 industries, ranging from large corporations to community-based financial institutions to universities and government agencies.
