The Inaugural Meeting of the 2014-2018 Halton Catholic Board of Trustees took place on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. The ceremony, which was held at Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School in Milton, was officiated by the His Excellency Daniel Miehm, Auxiliary Bishop of Hamilton.

In his remarks to Trustees before the commissioning ceremony, Bishop Miehm quoted the Oxford Dictionary, noting "Trustees hold something in trust for another, and this is very applicable to your work as Trustees. You hold something important in trust. Your work and your stewardship is to maintain the integrity of the education system."

Following the commissioning, the Honourable Mr. Justice J. M. Fragomeni of the Central West Superior Court of Justice, presided over the Oath of Allegiance and Declaration of Office for the newly elected Trustees and Student Trustees. Once the Board was declared legally constituted, the elections took place for Chair and Vice-Chair.

Jane Michael, Burlington Trustee for Wards 3 & 6, was elected to be the new Chair, and Burlington Trustee for Wards 1 & 2, Arlene Iantomasi was re-elected as Vice-Chair of the Board. The term for the Chair and Vice-Chair is for a period of one year, commencing the first Board Meeting in December.

"I am both honoured and humbled," said newly elected Chair, Jane Michael, as the results were announced. "The reason I sit around this Board table is for the students...I look forward to the work ahead of us."
