Halton Region will be closing the warming and evacuation centres, as a result of them no longer being needed, with the exception of the warming centre at the Georgetown Police Station located at 217 Guelph Street which will remain open, and the evacuation centre at the Milton Sport Centre: 605 Santa Maria Boulevard, which will remain open until 1 a.m. this morning. The situation will be reassessed in the morning to determine if the centres are to be reopened, and our website will continue to be updated.
“I would like to thank all the staff, volunteers and first responders who set up and operated the warming and evacuation centres,” commented Regional Chair Gary Carr. “We continue to assess the situation, in consultation with each Local Municipality, and will reopen the centres if they are needed.”
