Halton Region opens Emergency Operations Centre

Due to freezing rain and the resulting power outages, Halton Region has opened their Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to provide support to the community.

Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr, Acting CAO Sheldon Wolfson, Paramedic Services Chief Greg Sage, Deputy Police Chief Andrew Fletcher, Commissioners and staff are on hand to ensure services and supports are available to affected Halton residents.

Fallen trees and wires are still blocking roadways in some areas. Residents are asked to continue to travel with caution if there is a need to leave home. Halton Region’s website is being updated regularly with the latest power outage, support, and weather information:www.halton.ca/severeweather.

Residents are reminded that power outage reporting is not considered an emergency and can be reported to local utilities. Please only call 911 in the event of an emergency. Residents can also dial 311 for more information or follow @bPreparedHalton on Twitter.
