Halton Region taking applications for 2014 Summer Company Program

This summer, Halton Region is offering support to students between the ages of 15 and 29 that want to start and run their own business through the Summer Company program. Summer Company is an Ontario Government initiative for youth entrepreneurship and employment that is coordinated locally through the Halton Region Small Business Centre. Successful applicants will receive hands-on business training and mentoring, and can receive up to $3,000 in funding to help start and run their own summer businesses.

Entrepreneurship plays an important role in innovation, job creation and economic growth. Halton is proud to offer students support through the Summer Company program as it helps provide young entrepreneurs with the coaching, training, and mentoring that can help them succeed.

The deadline for submissions is May 23, 2014, however Summer Company is a competitive program with limited spaces and students are encouraged to complete their application early. For a complete list of program requirements or to apply online, visit the Summer Company website at www.ontario.ca/summercompany. Assistance in completing the application, including preparing a business plan, is available through the Halton Region Small Business Centre.
