The Halton Regional Police Children’s Safety Village has received another $2000 grant from Union Gas to help develop and enhance existing safety programs. This very generous grant was presented to the Safety Village today.

Since 2007, Union Gas has donated annually, totally just over $52,000. These funds go directly into the programming to impact the 10,000 children on average that attend each school year.

The Halton Regional Police Children’s Safety Village is a miniature town constructed with buildings, paved roads, traffic signals, railroad crossings and sidewalks. These features have all been designed to offer free safety-based programs to children in Kindergarten, Grade 2 and 3, within Halton Region.

“Union Gas continues their commitment to the Safety Education of children through the years of support they have shown our facility. I would like to thank Union Gas, yet again, for their continued generosity. Over the years, funds have been used to upgrade and enhance learning aids for the children. This summer, we completed three educational booklets on each of our programs with funds donated from Union Gas. Our goal is that the learning will continue far after their visit to the Safety Village. I would like to thank Union Gas, on behalf of the Halton Regional Police Service, yet again, for their continued generosity.” - Safety Village Coordinator, Cindy Lawrence:

“At Union Gas, we put safety above all else, both on the job and off the job. That’s why at Union Gas we choose to invest in important safety education programs, as one way of contributing to the more than 400 communities we serve across the province.” - District Manager Hamilton/Halton Union Gas, Mark Egbedeyi-Emmanuel:
