HCDSB High School Graduation Rates Keep Climbing!

Halton Catholic District School Board's secondary graduation rates continue to show steady improvement over previous years. A report recently released by the Ministry of Education reveals that the graduation rates for Halton Catholic District School Board have increased once again, and remain consistently higher than the provincial graduation rate.

The Ministry's report showed that in 2016 93.5 per cent of Halton Catholic students graduated within five years of starting Grade 9; a 1.1 per cent increase from 2015, and a 1.5 per cent increase from 2014. The provincial average for the five-year graduation rate was 86.5 percent.

The report also indicates that 89.8 per cent of Halton Catholic students graduated within four years of starting Grade 9; a 1.7 per cent increase from 2015, and a 2.8 percent increase from 2014. The provincial average for the four-year graduation rate was 79.6 per cent.

  1. In 2014, the Ministry of Education revised the calculation method to determine a graduation rate that now includes results for all Ontario students, rather than a subset of them.
  2. In 2015, 88.1 per cent of Halton Catholic students graduated within four years of starting Grade 9; 92.4 percent graduated within five years of starting Grade 9. The provincial average in 2015 was 78.3 per cent for the four-year graduation rate and 85.5 per cent for the five-year graduation rate.
  3. In 2014, 87 per cent of Halton Catholic students graduated within four years of starting Grade 9; 92 percent graduated within five years of starting Grade 9. The provincial average in 2014 was 76 per cent for the four-year graduation rate and 84 per cent for the five-year graduation rate.
