Yup, it is time to welcome another nasty bit of weather for tonight. It's going to make this evening's commute a bit of a nightmare. So you might just want to stay home tonight, grab a good book, and enjoy a warm meal with your family. February is in a fighting mood!
Here is Environment Canada Weather Alert issued, Tuesday, February 24, 2015:
A cold front with a band of flurries, heavy at times, is approaching from the northwest, and will slide southeast to reach the Greater Toronto area between 5 and 6 PM, then into Niagara and areas from Oshawa to Kingston between 6 and 7 PM. The band of flurries may give a quick 2 cm of snow, along with sudden very low visibilities of 500 metres or less in brief bursts of heavy snow. In addition, strong and gusty winds will also whip up the freshly fallen snow, resulting in sudden very low visibilities of 500 metres or less in blowing snow as well.
The heavy flurries and local blowing snow will affect the commute home from work early this evening across the Golden Horseshoe and into Eastern Ontario.
Motorists should be prepared for sudden hazardous winter driving conditions and allow extra time to reach their destination.
Visibility will improve later this evening in the wake of the front as the flurries diminish.
