The Halton Regional Police responded to a home on Highvalley Road in Oakville regarding reports of house cleaners stealing property belonging to the homeowners. Highvalley Road turns in Pine Glen on the other side of Bronte Road in the community of Palermo.

As a result of the investigation Viola Szava (39) of Scarborough and Zsolt Szava (46) also of Scarborough have been charged. They were both charged with Theft Over $5,000.

The two were released on a Promise To Appear.

Police are reminding the public of the following prevention tips:

  1. Use a reputable house cleaner company
  2. Consider using house cleaning services that have bonded employees
  3. Store valuables out of sight
  4. Consider storing valuables off-site in a safety deposit box
  5. Ensure your house insurance would cover such thefts
  6. Consider using temporary entry codes for the cleaning service
  7. Avoid services where the employees change on a regular basis
