Max's sudden, untimely passing came as a terrible shock. I have known Max for eight years, having worked with him on several hospital initiatives before we became federal Liberal colleagues. I count Max as a friend as well as a colleague; he will be sorely missed.
Max was a strong community leader and a champion for his constituents. Among his many political achievements, he spearheaded an initiative to bring halal foods to hospitals throughout Halton to better serve the Muslim community. I will always appreciate his help with various hospital fundraising efforts over the years. Serving the community was a responsibility he bore with great enthusiasm and resolve.
On a personal note, I will miss Max's positive energy. He was an amazing man with a big spirit who lit up every room he entered. His passing is a great loss for his family, friends, colleagues and the community of Oakville.
