John Oliver to run for Federal Liberal nomination in Oakville riding

The federal election will be called within the next year, and John Oliver the former President and CEO of Halton Healthcare Services announced his intention to become the next Federal Liberal candidate for the Ontario riding of Oakville.

John has lived in Oakville for the past 19 years and is the father of three children. He holds a Master's of Health Sciences, is also a Chartered Accountant. As the CEO at Halton Health Care Services he was responsible for the operation and administration of the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, the Milton District Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. The application, creation and implementation for the New Oakville Hospital was also a major part of his mandate for the last several years. For his service to Canada he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013.

"I'm grateful for the success I've enjoyed in Oakville...It would be a tremendous honour to represent the community of Oakville on a federal level," said Oliver.

Mr. Oliver has already received the endorsement of several prominent Oakville business leaders such as Geoff Smith of EllisDon Construction, Eve Willis of the Capital Campaign for the new Oakville Hospital, Julian Wise of the Wise Advisory Group, and Jarvis Sheridan of O'Connor MacLeod, Hanna. Local politicians already liking Mr. Oliver on Facebook include Oakville Mayor Rob Burton, and Oakville Councillor Allan Johnston.

"I haven't been so enthused about a Candidate for many, many years! This is an important building block to Justin Trudeau's new style politics and government. I very much look forward to working on the Nomination!" said Grant Buchan-Terrell a local business lawyer in town.

"Too many of the strengths and hallmarks of this great nation have been traded away for the sake of political expediency and ideology.... With your support, we can recast Canada as a source of inspiration, opportunity and positive change in the world," states Oliver as a reason for running.
