The Region of Halton’s Administration and Finance Committee met yesterday, electing Councillor Jeff Knoll as Chair of the committee for the remainder of this term of Council. This is Councillor Knoll’s second year as Chair of the regional Administration and Finance Committee, previously serving for five years as the Chair of the region’s Health and Social Services Committee.
“I am pleased to continue playing a stewardship role at an important juncture in meeting the region’s administrative and financial goals,” Councillor Knoll said. “I look forward to building on Halton’s enviable financial position of low debt and reduced taxes, which has enabled a focus on improving the regional transportation system and renewing regional infrastructure.”
The Administration and Finance Committee is responsible for fiscal matters, including attracting and retaining jobs, promoting tourism, emergency preparedness, public engagement, customer service, and community safety.
The Committee meets Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. on a three week cycle. The next meeting is scheduled for February 19, 2014.
