​​The Halton Regional Police Service has charged two females in connection with an investigation into labour trafficking.

The two accused allegedly arranged and facilitated the transport of an adult female from Africa to Canada in late 2018.

It is alleged that the victim was exploited for labour purposes in Halton.

A female from Oakville was arrested on March 20, 2019 and a second female from Montreal was arrested on March 27, 2019 in relation to this investigation.

One female from Oakville has been charged with the following offences:

  1. Trafficking in Persons
  2. Receive Material Benefit – Trafficking in Persons
  3. Withholding Documents

One female from Montreal has been charged with the following offence:

  1. Withholding Documents

To protect the identity of the victim, the Halton Regional Police Service will not be releasing the names of the accused females.
