Metrolinx, the company that operates GO train service, is informing riders that GO trains on the Lakeshore West line, including Oakville GO station, will not be providing train service along the line this weekend, from Friday, Oct. 27 to Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023.

The temporary suspension includes all train service into Toronto, where the Lakeshore West line ends at the city's downtown Union Station.

Train service will still operate, however, on an hourly schedule from Oakville going west towards West Harbour GO station in Hamilton during the closure period.

These temporary changes for this weekend will go into effect beginning 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 and continue until service is finished at the end of day, Sunday, Oct. 29.

Regular service is expected to resume Monday morning, Oct. 30.

Metrolinx says that customers at Oakville GO, Clarkson GO and Union Station will still be serviced this weekend by GO bus service in replacement for the trains.

There will be no GO Bus or Train services provided to customers at Port Credit GO, Long Branch GO, Mimico GO or Exhibition GO all weekend long, and these stations won't be accessible.

As for the reason for these closures, Metrolinx says, "these temporary service changes are essential for completing critical maintenance projects," specifically mentioning work on bridges and track work for Exhibition and Long Branch GO stations.
