Snow event was upgraded from an advisory to a statement by Environment Canada at 15:31. Change marked in RED.
Snow is expected to fall. Environment Canada has issued a special weather advisory for Oakville on December 20, 2017 at 4:15 AM. The weather advisory will likely change to a statement as the snow accumulates.
The advisory is expected to stay in effect from late this afternoon and end on Friday, December 22, 2017. Significant accumulation is forecast to start this evening and last until early Friday morning, according to the Weather Channel.
The drive in tomorrow will be difficult. However, there may be fewer drivers on the road as people may take Friday off to create an extended holiday weekend. During last major snow fall GO Trains were delayed due to technical difficulties. This may occur again, so be prepared.
There is a forecast model indicating freezing rain for Friday afternoon. As Environment Canada issues new updates this post will be updated as well.

10 to 15 cm of snow tonight into Friday.
Snow is forecast to begin falling late this afternoon with general snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm by Friday morning. An additional 5 cm is possible on Friday, however there will also be the risk of freezing drizzle through the day.
Some areas could see locally higher snowfall amounts, possibly in the 10 to 15 cm range, under a heavier band of snow tonight.
Motorists should be prepared for reductions to visibility and poor winter travelling conditions this evening into Friday. The Friday morning rush hour commute could be particularly slow and messy.
Latest indications are showing that some freezing rain may become an issue on Friday night.

Another shot of precipitation is expected to move into the Golden Horseshoe area this evening.
Precipitation will begin as a mix of snow and freezing drizzle before changing over to straight snow by Saturday morning. The snow should taper off in the afternoon with additional snowfall amounts in the 4 to 8 cm range.
Motorists should be prepared for poor winter travelling conditions tonight and Saturday.
On the positive side, Oakville will experience a white Christmas. This will make those Christmas light displays spectacular.
