Environmnent Canada issued a Monday November 11th Snow Fall Warning for Oakville at 3:15 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2019.  This weather event is expected to last until  late Monday night. So you'll need to be prepared for delays, and slippery conditions.

As we watch the storm approach the temperature will start to drop from plus 5. By 9:00 PM on Sunday, November 10th the air temperature will approach the freezing mark, and the occasional precipitation will change from light showers to snow flurries.

The prediction is for the snow to start falling in earnest around 5:00 AM and not let up at all until midnight. It will be a steady snow fall. The plows should be able to keep the roads clear, but the forecast is for anywhere from 15 to 25 cm.

Windchill will cause it to feel at least 5 degrees colder. The temperature starts off on Monday morning at zero, but continues to steadily drop through out the day and into the evening. By late Monday night the temperature reaches minus 5, but feels like minus 10.

The November 11th Snow Fall Warning is going to play havoc for both morning and evening commutes. Stay home if you can, and if you can't then make sure you bring along a good dose of patience.

Things to remember

This is the first snow fall warning. If you haven't already unpacked your gloves/mitts, hats, winter jackets, winter boots, snow shovel, and ice scrapper, now is the time to find it all.

For your car, put in a sleeping bag, and some food and water. You don't want to be cold and hungry if you get stranded. I also tend to fill up the tank, just in case.

Finally, though this event isn't likely to cause any power outages, it never hurts to keep you cell phone charged.
