The Town of Oakville has called in additional forestry crews to deal with the significant number of downed trees and tree limbs throughout the town. It is estimated that over 3,000 trees were damaged by the storm. Forestry crews are working as quickly as possible to remove fallen trees blocking roads and sidewalks. Several town crews are also assisting Oakville Hydro in removing limbs from power lines.
Due to the risk of falling tree limbs, residents are advised that town trails and woodlots will be closed until further notice. Park cleanup is scheduled to begin in January after priority calls are completed. It is expected that the cleanup of all damaged trees may take several weeks to complete. The Town of Oakville is working with Halton Region to set up emergency bulk brush collection and will post information at oakville.ca once details are confirmed.
Reporting damage
Residents are asked to call ServiceOakville at 905-845-6601 to report critical issues. Please be patient as operators are experiencing a very high volume of calls. ServiceOakville will be open:
- December 23 until 6 p.m.
- December 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- December 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Downed hydro wires
Residents are asked to stay clear of fallen trees, limbs and power lines. Do not touch any trees or branches that have come in contact with any hydro wires. To report downed power lines please contact Oakville Hydro at 905-825-9400. Call 9-1-1 for emergencies.
Power outages

The town reminds residents without power to never leave burning candles unattended. When you go out or go to sleep, always blow out the candles. The Ontario Fire Marshal has posted a number of safety precautions that should be followed during a power outage.
