As effects from the ice storm continue in Halton Region, emergency operations continue to provide support to the community as the temperature remains below the freezing mark and some outages are expected to continue beyond today.
Residents are reminded to seek shelter with family and friends, and be prepared to make alternate arrangements as needed. Travel is still dangerous in some areas due to fallen trees and wires. Residents are asked to continue to travel with caution.
“Safety is our number one concern as the effects of the storm are still being felt by some of our residents,” said Gary Carr, Regional Chair. “Halton Region staff, in partnership with local emergency services, is committed to continuing service and supporting the community.”
Warming centres are available throughout the region and will continue to be available as required. Oakville's locations are as follows:
o Iroquois Ridge Community Centre: 1051 Glenashton Drive
o Glen Abbey Community Centre: 1314 Third Line
o Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre: 2301 Yolanda Drive
Regional waste pick up is continuing as usual. Services related to debris pick up are being arranged.
