Chamber Breakfast: Mental Health in the workplace

Let's talk about workplace mental health issues is the theme of a breakfast the Oakville Chamber of Commerce is hosting on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Harbour Banquet Hall.

"We need to get rid of the stigma around discussing mental health so we can work towards identifying the signs and providing early intervention," commented Orla Johnston, chair of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce. "Mental health issues affects so many employees."

Dr. Ian Dawe, physician-in-chief of Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences and associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Toronto will provide an introduction to this complex issue and how it affects the workplace.

Dr. Dawe will discuss how to recognize the signs of mental illness in the workplace and the importance of early intervention, describe ways to promote mental well-being and its impact on employees, how to access other sources of information about mental health.

The event takes place on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Tickets are available by visiting the chamber website at www.oakvillechamber.com or emailing [email protected]. Ticket prices are $20 for members and $35 for non-members. The event will be held at the Harbour Banquet Hall, 2340 Ontario Street, Oakville. All prices are subject to HST. The event begins at 7:30 am with registration and breakfast and the keynote speech begin at 8 am. Members of the public are invited to attend.
