Environment Canada has issued it's first Oakville Heat Warning from Sunday, June 11, 2017 until the end of Monday, June 12, 2017. So remember to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water, keep exposure to the sun at a minimum, and please don't leave children or pets in your vehicle.

Enjoy the warm weather, it has been a long time coming.

Here is Environment Canada's Oakville Heat Warning issued at 10:03 AM, Sunday, June 11, 2017:

First heat event of the season beginning today.

Temperatures are expected to reach 31 degrees today and near 32 degrees on Monday with overnight lows near 21 degrees, providing little relief from the heat during this timeframe. It is also possible that these heat conditions will persist into Tuesday. Temperatures will fall below heat warning criteria by the middle of this week.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
