MPP Kevin Flynn has joined Cabinet for the first time as the new Minister of Labour. Kevin Flynn becomes the first Minister from Oakville since Minister James Snow in 1985.

“I am honoured and humbled to become Ontario’s new Minister of Labour. It’s a pleasure to join Premier Wynne’s cabinet team and to work with all members to grow Ontario’s economy in a safe and fair manner,” said Minister Flynn.

The Ministry of Labour is working to ensure the minimum wage keeps up with the cost of living and is predicable for businesses, that caregivers have time off to look after their loved ones knowing their job will be secure and is strengthening work place protections.

“We are strengthening workplace protections because they are the building blocks of stronger workplaces, a stronger economy and a stronger Ontario,” remarked Minister Flynn.

Kevin Flynn was first appointed as Parliamentary Assistant to Minister of Labour when he was first elected in 2003. During his time as Parliamentary Assistant Mr. Flynn conducted public consultations resulting in the end of mandatory retirement. Since that time he has worked to ensure increased skills training is available to Ontario’s young people and to encourage workplace mental wellness.

“I am looking forward to returning to the Ministry as Minister and working with all stakeholders. I know together we can find solutions that will positively impact the bottom line for business and continue to improve the health & safety of our family and friends,” remarked Minister Flynn.
