The Oakville Federal New Democratic Party Riding Association is holding its nomination meeting on May 7, 2015 at Town Hall (7 pm) for this year’s coming national election. Che Marville, the Oakville NDP candidate in last year’s provincial election, has put her name forward to stand as candidate.
“We’re very proud to have Che as our candidate this year,” says riding association President Brenda Buchanan. “Che made such an enormous impression in the provincial election last year. And once again, she will run a principled, focused campaign this year that addresses the concerns of working people and wage earners in Oakville.”
Che Marville is the founder of the first employee health mindfulness centre for St. Joseph Healthcare in Hamilton. She also worked at the Ontario Science Centre for sixteen years and is the co-founder of the Children’s Own Media Museum, inspired by Marshall McLuhan.
Although only NDP members can vote at the meeting, the event is open for all to attend. “We expect a strong turnout on May 7,” says riding association executive member Tina Agrell. “It’s a great opportunity for voters to meet Che and ask her questions about issues and policies that affect them.”
Che has a degree in political science and anti-oppression theory from Glendon College, York University and Professional Certificate in Project Management from the Schulich School of Business. In 2014, Che was elected Vice-President of the Ontario NDP.
“Che’s experience, values and knowledge of the issues makes her the perfect candidate to confront the corporate agenda of the Stephen Harper government,” says Buchanan. “Canadians, and voters in Oakville, need a forward-looking, progressive member of parliament that puts the needs of working families, our environment and social justice at the front of the agenda.”
