Sean O'Meara tossed his hat into the municipal race on August 5, 2014 as a candidate for Ward 1. Sean is a long-time resident of Oakville's Bronte community, and is the son of well known realtor Shirley O'Meara. He currently lives with his 2 children and his wife just a few blocks north of Bronte Village.

When asked why he felt it was important to run, the answer was straight forward. Congestion of the roads in his Ward. During rush hour, being able to get onto Bronte Road is a horrible according to Mr. O'Meara, and the side roads are being used heavily as drivers try to avoid Rebecca, Lakeshore and Bronte Roads. His solution is the get the Wyecroft Bridge "Shovel Ready". He believes that a bridge south of the QEW would alleviate the congestion in Bronte Village.

"The Wyecroft Bridge has already been approved by Halton Conservation; however, it is not even on a 10 year capital plan for the town," says O'Meara. "My promise is to make the Bridge a reality, no matter how long it takes."

Mr. O'Meara has had several years of hands on experience in working with Oakville residents to solve their problems as a member of MPP Kevin Flynn's as well as MPP Indira Naidoo Harris offices. He was also involved with the peace talks in Ireland as a student, where he was working on his Master's in Conflict Resolution from Queen's University in Belfast. He also holds a PhD from Queens in International Relations & Affairs.
