On September 5th, Scott Weller added his name to list of candidates vying for the town councillor seat for Oakville. There is a slate of eight candidates to choose from.

Scott can trace his family roots in Oakville back to the 1940’s. His mom was raised in Oakville, and not soon after he was born, she became a single parent. At the age of 9 he stepped up and started working in order to provide his mom with a little extra money. Working hard was never an issue for Scott.

Scott and his wife moved to Glen Abbey in the 1990’s from Mississauga, and moved into Ward 3 eight years ago. During this time he started “Fine Detail” a car detailing company which he sold, and then the family purchased M&M Meats. In 2012 he was recruited as the General Manager of Glenleven Chrysler.

Scott has been very active in Ward 3 and the community at large. He helped to found the Chartwell Maple Grove Residents Association, and is currently working on a project with Kerr Street Ministries that provides free car repair for those who require their vehicle to get them to work but, are not able to pay. They are looking after about 2 cars a month through Glenleven.

“I’m concerned about the issues facing Ward & Town,” said Weller when asked why he decided to run. “I need to take of my yard, and I don’t believe anyone is looking out for interests.” He is also concerned about how few people know about the election, what the roll of the council is and/or that some people don’t even know the name of their councillor.

The issues Scott feels are critically important are: protecting the character of the community, creating a vibrancy in downtown Oakville, increasing access to the lake for all residents, better maintenance of the parks, and the creation of recreation centre and activities for all ages in Ward.

Scott Weller feels that his hard work ethic combined with his ability to not only listen but to act on what he is hearing, will provide the right skills needed to make a strong and effective councillor for Ward 3.
