Chris Kowalchuck is one of those people who you might have just met, but you feel immediately comfortable with. He is easy going; and you can just tell he cares. We sit down, and have a relaxed conversation.

Chris was born in Port Moody, BC. His dad was an amateur hockey champion who later worked for Seagrams. His mom was a homemaker. He has an older brother and a younger sister.

The family moved to Oakville when Chris entered Grade 10. He attended and graduated from T.A. Blakelock High School. After graduation, Chris headed out to Whistler to ski, and returned home to attend Humber College and received his certificate in Ski Area Management. It led to a job at Glen Eden.

He then moved into the hospitality industry where he worked at the Riverside as well as the first Kelsey’s. He liked it so much that he secured a job with Hillebrand Wines as a Brand Manager, and was a Sales Manager at Gordon Foods and Lakeport Brewery.

He then moved out of the Liquor business, because he really enjoyed working with his hands. He took a job in construction, and now is self-employed as a residential contractor.

Chris is a devoted environmentalist and was one of the first candidates for the Green Party, before most people had ever heard of it. He is very concerned about maintaining Oakville’s green spaces, especially as infill has taken hold of Oakville.

He lives in the community of West River which is just east of Kerr Village, and has two daughters.
