Fraser Damoff is likely one of the younger people in the race for Ward 2, but he is no stranger to local politics. He is the son of Pam Damoff, who vacated Ward 2’s town council seat when she became the elected Member of Parliament for Oakville North Burlington.

His dad who works for WSIB, is the person who Fraser attributes to teaching him to put his head down and work hard. He became engaged just this month to Taylor his girlfriend of the past 4.5 years. They live in Kerr Village with a dog and cat.

To Oakville town council, Fraser feels his youthful perspective will bring to light issues faced by younger residents such as finding affordable housing, strong public transit and availability of great jobs.

At Brock University he earned his B.A. and M.A. in Political Science, with a specialization on the Green Energy Act of 2009. He currently works with First Nations and Co-operatives to help them build their own energy projects, which includes securing financing.

Locally, he founded GENNEXT a youth arm of the United Way that co-ordinates fundraising events for young adults. He’s also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters as well as Kerr Street Mission.

He readily acknowledges he is a Liberal Party member, but wants to make it clear that having political ties doesn’t mean blindly following. “I’ll be a strong voice on Town Council for the residents of Ward 2, should they decide to elect me on April 11th. “
