Ontario has approved $17.34 million in funding for the Halton District School Board, HDSB, for the construction of a brand new elementary school and the renovation of Heritage Glen Public School. This new school and addition will provide students with modern and improved places to learn while creating local construction jobs.

A new elementary school will be built in the new North Oakville community (located north of Dundas Street) for the 2015-2016 school year. This new elementary school will serve the growth of the surrounding neighbourhood.

Heritage Glen will be renovated to serve an additional 138 pupils. The renovation is anticipated to be completed by 2014-15.

Building new schools and modernizing learning spaces is part of the government’s economic plan that is creating jobs for today and tomorrow. The comprehensive plan and its six priorities focus on Ontario’s greatest strengths — its people and strategic partnerships.

“By continuing our support for new school buildings and renovations across Ontario, we are providing our children with better places to learn. This contributes to student success in school and beyond and creates construction jobs in local communities.” — Liz Sandals, Minister of Education

Since elected in 2003 the Government of Ontario have invested $301.6 million in capital funding to the HDSB. This funding has resulted in 22 new schools being built across the region with another 4 schools planned or under construction.
