Schools offering Grade 1 Parent Information Sessions in January 2014

The Halton District School Board takes pride in offering excellent Grade 1 programs to students in their communities. Every school in the Halton District School Board with Grade 1 will be running Parent Information Sessions in January 2014 to highlight these programs.

Parents of Senior Kindergarten students are encouraged to attend these sessions to hear about Reading, Writing and Math programs available in both our English and French streams. The information sessions, listed below, will help parents gain an understanding of the programs offered in schools.

To meet the needs of parent interests:

  • Single Track English schools will run their information sessions the week of January 13
  • Dual Track schools and Single Track French Immersion schools will run their information sessions the week of January 20.
  • Grade 1 French Immersion registration begins on January 27. Parents must submit their registration forms to their home school no later than February 7, 2014.

During these information sessions, principals and teachers will share information about the following programs and supports available in schools:

  • Literacy and Math initiatives
  • Core French programs
  • French Immersion programs
  • Special Education supports and programs available to students
  • Extra-curricular opportunities
  • Other initiatives unique to each school

No matter how familiar or involved parents currently are in their child’s school, we hope parents of Senior Kindergarten students will attend to hear about the programs and exciting learning opportunities in Halton District School Board schools.
