Single Motor Vehicle Collision on Regional Road 25 and Lower Base Line

On Friday March 22, 2019 the Halton Regional Police Service responded to a report of a serious injury collision, involving a single motor vehicle on Regional Road 25 on the south side of Lower Base Line, in the town of Oakville.

A 50 year old male resident of Oakville was travelling southbound on Regional Road 25 at Lower Base Line when his 2018 Dodge Ram pickup truck left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch adjacent to the roadway.

At approximately 8:15 PM, police stopped to check on the vehicle and discovered the unresponsive driver. An off-duty nurse also stopped and commenced CPR. Ambulance arrived and transported the male to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Unfortunately, the male could not be resuscitated and was declared deceased at hospital.

Due to the nature of the situation, the Halton Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded and took carriage of the investigation. The scene was held for approximately 2 hours for the at-scene collision investigation.

At mid-night, the Collision Reconstruction Unit continues its investigation, both northbound lanes and one southbound lane have been reopened on Regional Road 25, between Lower Base Line and Henderson Road. The Reconstruction Unit will be issuing a formal media release with additional details at a later time.
