Halton District School Board’s Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) is seeking new members from the Halton community to apply to join.
Under Ontario’s Education Act, every school board must have a Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) that advises the Board on specific information, advice and assistance to parents/guardians whose children may require additional support. The committee makes recommendations to the Board concerning the establishment and development of special education programs and services.
Two categories of membership are:
- Local organizations to become members of the committee. The association or organization of parents must operate locally within the jurisdiction of the Board, and be affiliated with a provincial association/organization dedicated to the well-being or interests of exceptional children. The organization must meet all other requirements as outlined in Regulation 464/97 for membership to SEAC.
- ‘Members-at-large’ (maximum of three people)
Members-at-large must have the following qualifications:
- A Canadian citizen 18 years or older
- A resident within the jurisdiction of Halton District School Board
- A public school supporter
In total, 30 people (including alternates) serve on SEAC.
Board employees are not eligible for appointment.
Those interested are asked to submit a resume to Rebecca Bardin, SEAC/Student Services Assistant, via email at [email protected] by Friday, November 28, 2014.
