Environment Canada has issued a special weather advisory for Oakville. It was issued on Monday January 18, 2016 at 10:51 AM. The advisory will last until later this evening.

A blustery day with flurries and possible brief snow squalls today and this evening.
A stiff west to northwest flow has delivered a fresh cold Arctic air mass, and is also ushering in a few lake effect flurries from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
The winds are going to be strong enough to carry lake effect snow bands quite far inland from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay today. As a result there is a chance that snow squalls may briefly affect parts of the Greater Toronto area today and this evening.
Actual snowfall amounts will range from 4 to 8 centimetres locally over areas affected by heavy flurries and perhaps a brief snow squall, to a dusting in areas that receive only occasional flurries.
The strong and gusty winds will also whip up any freshly fallen snow, resulting in low visibility in occasional blowing snow.
The lake effect snow bands may impact the afternoon commute if they are able to extend into the region. Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing and suddenly poor winter driving conditions, as low visibility in blowing snow or bursts of heavier snow are possible.
Environment Canada is closely monitoring this situation. Snow squall watches and warnings may be issued if necessary later today.
