Environment Canada has upgraded is Statement to a Wind Warning as of 3:07 PM on Sunday October 15, 2017 for Oakville. 

Environment Canada maintained its special wind statement on Sunday, October 15, 2017 for the Town of Oakville at 4:41 AM and 11:51 AM

Environment Canada issued a special wind statement on Saturday, October 14, 2017 for the Town of Oakville at 3:21 PM.

The special weather statement is for Sunday afternoon October 15, 2017 and is expected to last until Monday morning, October 16, 2107.

According to the Weather Channel sustained winds of 46 km/hour will begin on Sunday afternoon. Gusts are forecast to reach 75 km/hr and last until Monday morning.  Environment Canada is forecasting stronger wind gusts. The wind will be combined with potential thunderstorms Sunday morning to Sunday afternoon. The wind is expected to usher in cooler weather.

Temperatures are expected to drop from Sunday Afternoon when the high is expected to reach 23 to 13 degrees as the forecast high for Monday. You'll want to wear multiple layers to deal with the fluctuation in temperature.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Very strong winds expected Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. - Today.

After the passage of a sharp cold front Sunday afternoon, wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h will develop. Occasional gusts to 90 km/h are possible, especially in exposed areas near the Great Lakes. A line of heavy showers will accompany these wind gusts. The London Airport reported a gust to 104 km/h earlier. Numerous reports of wind damage have been received from southwestern Ontario.

These winds will shift to the northwest with the passage of a sharp cold front late this afternoon. Northwest wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h are expected this evening.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds

Winds are expected to slowly diminish Sunday night. late this evening and overnight.

Environment Canada is closely monitoring this situation.
