Oakville Conservatives have selected Terence Young as their candidate for the 2019 Federal Election. A candidate with proven leadership, Terence previously served as Oakville’s MPP from 1995 to 1999 and Oakville’s MP from 2008 to 2015.

“Terence has always done politics differently,” says Brian Cargill, President of the Oakville Conservative Electoral District Association. “He always puts the best interests of Oakville and Canada first and works across party lines to get things done. That’s how he achieved unanimous support in both the House of Commons and the Senate for his drug safety bill: Vanessa’s Law, the largest update to Canada’s Food and Drugs Act in fifty years. That’s why Terence was the clear choice to be our candidate for the upcoming federal election.”

Terence has 11 years experience in two governments and a record of getting things done. As Oakville’s MP, Terence secured the most significant federal infrastructure investments in Oakville’s history, totalling over $100 million. This includes millions towards the Oakville GO station parking structure, a new Oakville Transit facility, the new Oakville Southwest wastewater treatment plant.

“I’m running because I have more to do in Ottawa for Oakville and Canada,” says Terence. “I want to make life easier for people and promote growth that is sustainable. Part of doing this is repealing the current carbon levy that is increasing every-day costs for families and replacing it with a plan that takes practical action to protect our environment. I support making polluters pay and investing back into technology to make meaningful reductions to their emissions.

“And there is more work to be done towards taking dangerous drugs off the market. I am concerned that ten thousand Canadians have died from opioid overdoses in the last three years. Vanessa’s Law was a step in the right direction. Now it must be enforced. If you support me in this work, I need your vote to return to Ottawa and be strong voice for Oakville.”

Young’s campaign office at 67 Lakeshore Road West (just east of Kerr Street) opened on June 1st and will be open Monday to Friday from 9AM – 9PM and Saturdays from 10AM – 5PM until October 21. Visit voteterenceyoung.ca for more information or to volunteer, donate or request a lawn sign.
