Halton Police have re-opened Trafalgar Road at 12:40 p.m., though the area is congested.

At 10:25 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, Halton Regional Police announced the closure of Trafalgar Road in both directions just north of the QEW. The road is closed from the QEW to McCraney Street East.

The incident with hazardous construction equipment involves a crane.

A witness states that a crane appears to be broken, and a bucket is being held on by cables over hanging Trafalgar Road, which can be verified by a long-distance grainy photograph provided by another witness.

Police have confirmed that there are no injuries, but the crane's cable has given way.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and find alternative routes. This is also affecting Oakville Transit and GO Transit buses which use Trafalgar Road. The buses are being diverted along Sixth and Eighth Lines.

There is no estimated time for Trafalgar to be re-opened.
