Trail Sexual Assault suspect arrested

On July 3rd 2019, members of the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit identified and arrested the accused for the June 18th sexual assault along the trail system north of McCraney Street in the Town of Oakville.

The accused was arrested at his residence without incident, and held for a Bail Hearing.

A 73 year-old Oakville man has been charged with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference.

On June 18th 2019 at approximately 12:00pm, the lone female victim was walking through the trail system north of McCraney Street just east of Gaetan Gervais Secondary School.

During that time, she encountered the suspect who also walking along the trail.  The suspect engaged the victim in conversation, while repeatedly mentioning the word "money".  The suspect then reached for the victims hand, and pulled her towards him.  At this time he hugged the victim and inappropriately touched her.

The suspect is described as:  Older Male South Asian (East Indian), between 60-70 years of age, short 5'4" to 5'7", with a full white/grey beard with a longer style of moustache.  The suspect spoke with a think Indian accent and was wearing traditional clothing and a turban.
