Trafalgar Rd
The southbound lanes of Trafalgar Rd between Burnhamthorpe Rd East and Threshing Mill Blvd. were closed on Tuesday, December 10 at 1:45 PM, as well as the Eastbound lanes of Trafalgar Road between Burnhamthorpe Rd and Ninth Line, as a result of two separate crashes that happened less than one minute apart.
At approximately 1:40 pm, two motor vehicles were involved in a head on collision in the intersection of Trafalgar Rd and Burnhamthorpe Rd East. One vehicle was stopped preparing to make a turn onto Trafalgar Road. As a result of the collision, some motorists stopped their vehicles at the side of the road to avoid driving through the scene.
The second crash occurred when a driver slowed to observe the scene and struck a vehicle that had been pulled over on the east side of the roadway. It resulted in a rear end collision affecting 3 vehicles.
There was a considerable amount of debris on the road as a result of the two collisions. The road closures were implemented to ensure the safety of those involved, as well as other members of the public. Police asked that motorists use alternative routes.
Fortunately, the preliminary investigation at the scene did not revealed any significant injuries but Halton Regional paramedics did take one of the occupants to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
Trafalgar Rd was re-opened at 2:30 PM.
Charges are pending.
Halton Regional Police Service would like to remind drivers take extra precautions when driving by a collision.
